When I started blogging last year my rating had reached an all time high. I hade made a jump from 2040 in november 2007 to 2068 in february 2008. This succes inspired me to do two things:
1. Start blogging.
2. Working through step 5 extra, 5+ and step 6 of the stepsmethod.
I worked through the steps while commuting in the train. Not an ideal enviroment, but it sure beats doing nothing or slumbering as far as chess improvement is concerned.
Today the provisional version of new Dutch ratinglist was published. It shows that I have made it over 2100. My new rating is 2105. Since I started to get serious in november 2007, I have gained 65 points. Not even close to the 400 that MdlM made in his stint, but believe me, I am really pleased this accomplishment.

Congratulations! You are making steady progress, which is remarkable since lots of players seem to reach a plateau. Either permanently or 'only' for several years.
BTW, where can I view or download the provisional ratinglist?
Tentative,
Thank you.
The provisional list can be viewed on this link: http://129.125.32.15/EXEC
Congratulations!
Up to 2200 i would say.
i am so proud of you!
fantastic!
to my most esteemed parter,
and to a true best friend.

Fantastic work, congratulations!
Transformation and BDK,
Thank you for your congratulations!
CT,
Thank you as well. Getting to 2200 is quite another story. To be honest, I do not think I will be able to reach that level. Those 65 points were really a lot of work, and I did have my share of luck in at least two of my games this season.
Congratulations! Consistent work is a great power!
Congratulations! That's quite an increase in rating. Ahhhh, if only it were easy. :-)
Polly,
Thanks for the cheering.
In a way it is good that it is not easy. As Randy Pausch said it in his "Last lecture": "these walls are made to keep the other people out". Surely you as a long distance runner and cycler will agree.
I think your being abit hard on yourself comparing your achievement with MdlM, as the stairs get higher the steps get much larger. Your achievement in this context is impressive.
65 points, at the level you're at, seems more impressive than MdlM's 400 points. Big difference to be jumping once over 2000.
I am being trained by an author, whose name i won't mention - but whom you seem to mention a lot, and, in 6 months, my rating has jumped from 1450 to 1800. fyi, we're doing chess vision / tactics exercises.
best of luck.
Will,
Thank you for your encouragement!
Jesse,
You seem to be in the best hands possible. Keep up the good work. I would love to hear about your progress every now and then!
